ORGANIC ISLANDS NAXOS

Organic Islands® is a small family firm based in Naxos, an island of the Cyclades complex in Greece and was founded in October 2010.

About the same time, we started planting Melissa Officinalis in our farm which is located near Sagri, a small village in the middle of the island, about 15 km from Naxos town. In the following years we kept adding different aromatic and medicinal plants and by the end of 2012 we had a total of 8 different plants

The plants are cultivated in a total area of 12.000 m2. Within 2013 the total cultivated area is programmed to reach about 30.000 m2 targeting 100.000 m2 until the end of 2015.

Organic Islands® is the first and still the only company in the Cyclades that cultivates certified organic aromatic and medicinal plants. The climatic and soil conditions of the island are ideal for these plants. Lack of water and plenty of sunshine along with traditional cultivation methods ensure that the aromatic plants we produce are of the highest quality, rich in essential oils which give them distinct taste and smell.

We firmly believe in the practice and values of organic farming and one of our main aims is to convince others on the island to follow our example. Combing practices of the past with today's knowledge and technology we can protect the environment (air, soil, water, flora, fauna) and produce rich, healthy products for the people.
