Handmade lamps made by Greek architect Yiannis. All our models are for sale and we ship worldwide.
Open Source Design describes a network of people that are similar with the terms of design and will be able to transmit their knowledge to people that want to create their own projects.
A team of Architects, Industrial designers, Graphic designers, and Model makers will be formed in order to provide all of the required information.
Lets assume that a user would like to create a lamp. He would be able to choose from a variety of designs on the network to contact the designers with his own idea. Blueprints and photos will be available at any time, along with instructions and video walkthroughs. If the user would like extra help, assistance will be provided for free through emails, Skype meetings, or even in person if the user is located in the same city as the designer.
WHY its different?!! Become part of the team!
The difference between our network and web pages, books, or even videos that already exist is that the user becomes a part of the designing procedure within a team. The user gets to enjoy the whole designing atmosphere and create a unique piece by himself, but always has the option to refer to the network for help. Through the network, design becomes public and belongs to everyone because we all work together as a TEAM!
Handmade Lamps was created by Architect, Yiannis. (You guessed it! That's the Greek version of the most common name, John).
He lives and works in Athens, Greece, where he studied architecture at the National Technical University of Athens & completed his Masters at the Florence Design Academy in Italy.
Design IS a part of his everyday life, designing objects based on everyday moments and always keeping in mind the value of classic with the innovation of modern.
His travels capture his curiosity to explore different cultures, making friends from different countries, and exploring the architectural beauty of different cities. These have been a motivation for him to transform city elements into everyday objects.
HIs first attempt at the marriage of these two ideas is a series of handmade lamps, crafted entirely from sustainable materials. He used paper, wood, and glass for this series.
